Apple outsourcing jobs and software sales
Outsourcing is a growing trend, with a new report suggesting that the iPhone maker has some of the highest turnover rates in the industry.
According to data from research firm IDC, Apple has lost a whopping 1,100 jobs since January, with the largest number of the job losses occurring in sales.
According to IDC’s data, Apple lost 1,977 jobs during the same period, with most of those losses occurring during Q2 of 2016, when it lost 961 jobs.
Apple is the fifth-largest employer in the US, with 9,914 employees.
However, the firm also notes that “the number of Apple employees worldwide has declined by 2.3 million over the past three years, with 8.1 million jobs lost.”IDC says the reason for this decline is due to a number of factors, including:The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which launched in November, have received mixed reviews, and Apple’s iPad Mini, which debuted in March, is also under fire for its lack of a touchscreen display.
In addition, Apple is facing an increasing number of lawsuits against it in the courts for allegedly stealing intellectual property from rivals, and it recently faced a massive recall of its products.
Apple’s share price fell by 3.2% in after-hours trading on Friday.
